User Reviews about Cables To Go 40408 3.5 mm Male Female Stereo Audio Extension Cable - Black (12 Feet)

First, for a penny, how can I say anything bad about these? Well, I think they're worth more than that, to be sure, but these may not be the ones you want for any kind of superior sound. I bought these cables for my new Zi8 camera. I have a very sensitive external stereo mic I bought for it -- a Sound Professionals SPSM-15 (around $20 plus shipping). I've done extensive tests with different setups, putting the external mic gain/loss scale anywhere from -4 to +2 on the Zi8. For each "experiment," I went through three phases. Just voice. First through the camera's mic, then through the external mic, and finally through the mic connected through this extension cable. Each time, the SPSM mic blew away the camera's mic in volume and quality. In fact it added noise because of its sensitivity so I had to favor lower settings on the mic gain/loss feature. When I used this extension cable, there was an audible high-pitched whining and hiss that was added to the recording. Granted, I listened to the recordings at high volume to distinguish background noise and these were not very noticeable at lower volumes. But the added sound was definitely there. I'd also bought some 25 foot cables from another company (for $1.90 each, if I remember correctly, thinking, "Well, it's worth it for the six bucks total or so I'm paying for all these cables.") and they also added some noise, but not quite as much as these. I ended up going to Radio Shack and buying a 16-ft. extension cable for $10.99 and it seems to be working fine, meaning I can't tell if it's being used or not. So maybe I'm a bit picky, but I ended up going with a higher priced alternative. I'm still going to try these out on my tv so my girlfriend doesn't have to listen to me watching sports. Maybe they'll do better there. -- Added noise to my Kodak Zi8 recordings
Very fast shipping. It was at my house before I even remembered I ordered it. -- GREAT!!
This is fantastic. It's exactly what I needed. The cable has a nice smooth outer sleeve. Quality construction. Used almost every day and still working great. Cheap price, great product. -- Fantastic
I needed a cord to connect my wireless reciever and my video camera. This does the job rather well. It didn't do the job I originally wanted which was hooking the lapel mic directly into the camera - all I got was static. Good cable for price. -- Decent
Not much to review here. The product works fine and sounds good, does what it is supposed to do. I'm hard on cables and this one has held up quite good so far. I would buy this product again. -- 3.5mm audio extension
